Dr is saying my son's head is measuring small for his body???

Ok so I am a new mother and this is my first child...my son is 7 months old and they say his head is not measuring up for his body..they say it is on the smaller side...whatever that means..He is 25" long and he weighs 16.6 lbs...his head was 12 1/4 when he was born and today it is 16" like it was last month...so you guys tell me...cause tomorrow they are sending him for a cat scan...and I am, sooo nervous....

Hi Jaimie.  Sorry you're having this worry.

You may have already seen this - a head circumference chart.  At birth,  he was right on the 1 percentile line for head size.

Now,  he's well below the chart for his age.  Typically,  when there's a growth concern,  watching the baby maintain their percentile rank - even if it's very low - is usually considered acceptable.

How is he doing developmentally?   Are there any concerns there?
