Echoing in 3 yr old

Hello again...I posted the question earlier about the 3 yr old with speech delay/school says autism??  We have been working with our daughter on replying to the questions, "What's your name?" and "How old are you?"  When asked "What's your name?"  She echoes, "Name?" and then says "Say Audrey."  Because that's what we said to get her to answer.  In regards to "How old are you?"  she looks at us until we say "3" and sometimes she says "3" other times she says "4,5,6,7"....etc.  In regards to other questions she will answer yes or no, or say "OK" or "sure."  She will rarely answer open-ended questions, but will try to strike up conversations with "hey look" or "What are you doing?" or "Come on", "Come here and look".  She still does the spontaneous "rambling" at times with the monologue from some shows like Dora or Blues Clues, although this has dissipated some with my basically cutting her off from these shows.

Your description certainly underscores the delay in her use of language. Now, whether this pretty much stands alone as an area of concern will become clearer as the assessment process continues. There are certainly children who exhibit delays in one or another area(s) of development and do fine in the others.
