Emergence of Bio Father

I brought up my step daughter from when she was about 3 years old. It seems she had already been made aware that she had a biological father somewhere. The man was never there for her nor did anything for her. Early this year my Step daughter who is now 13 expressed a desire to her aunts to meet her biological father. She established a contacts with him. On a particular weeken we allowed her to visit him and there is now a lot of communication going on between the two of them. Suddenly I feel like I have lost my place with her, not that she is rebelious, misbehaving or anything like that. She is still a good girl that I brought up but often I am at loss for words or action when she is around me. I keep thinking that maybe I was not good enough for her. I am confused. Part of me says I must just forget about her and focus on her brother who is my biological child.

How is she your step daughter?  You are not with her biological dad?  I'm confused as to how you wound up raising her?

I think she still needs you aswell so dont forget about her as you said, it is very natural and a good thing her father came back into her life, she needs you aswell ,its hard as you think she doesnt care for you anymore,I doubt if thats the case, once she gets used to having him around some of the newness will go and you will both be in her life ,its a wonderful thing she has you both.
