Enursis problem

Enursis problem

I have a 2 3/4 year old daughter who started potty training several months ago, approximately June.  She was close to using the potty regularly and suddenly has reverted back to wanting to use diapers.  I'm not sure why this is happening or how to address this issue.

The next, and probably a bigger concern, is that she refuses to use the potty except for having a bowel movement (though she has recently had an encorpretic episode).  She will pee in her diaper and if I insist she wear cotton underwear she pees in them and laughs.  She will also do this if she isn't wearing anything (the interesting thing is she insists on using the potty when she is in public); this is only at home. I have found that if I need to put her in a timeout, she will pee, and will do this on a regular basis and removes her diaper (if she is wearing one) or goes in her clothing.  The encorpretic episode happened during a timeout where she proceeded to use a shoe to smash it into my rug.  I feel she is doing this as a way to have control, but I'm not sure, but this behavior seems to be very related to she and I.  It has become very frustrating, as she is a very active little girl and I am frequently telling her to stay out of things she is not suppose to be getting into.  Am I doing something wrong? What should I do to address this problem without becoming frustrated and angry and to teach her to act appropriately?

I would make her help to clean up her messes that she makes. This way she sees that it is not fun or acceptable to pee everywhere but the toilet. Make her go to the toilet about every 20 mins or so even if she doesn't have to go to the bathroom. This will help to reinforce the potty issue. At the same time though, kids tend to do things for attention so what or why do you think she is doing this for? Try using a reward sticker chart for her every time she uses the potty to do either one, praise her and give her a sticker. Also reward her with maybe going to play at a friends house or baking with you or something she enjoys doing. This may get her on track. If it doesn't work and you are still concerned, take her to the pediatrician. There may be some underlying issue there that only a doctor can see. Good luck.
