HELP!!!!!!

My 12yr old son would rather stay in his room and do nothing than to go outside. He does well in school, just dont understand why going outside to him is like a punishment?! Gets along well with other kids..but everytime his father and or I turn around he is right up our butt!! I feel like I cant breath..I have NO PRIVACY! What to do!!? I feel that he has nervous habits i.e ( fidgets with his fingers and hands...tapping on stuff like they are drums..but wont go outside and play like a normal 12 yr old.) When told to go out and play he ask " What do you want me to do"..its like he doesnt know how to play..or just doesnt want to!! He played outside as a child..just not understanding what the problem is???!!! HELP...HELP....HELP... thank you for your comments and time!!

I can remember when I was that age and I hated it when I was told to go outside. Have you tried having your husband take him out and play football or baseball with him. Signing him up for sports or other activities, summer camp, things to get him out of the house and doing things that are active.

Get his Dad out there he wants company have you a basket ball hoop or get one how about soccer?  okay Monopoly and board games, scrabble.

wait a minute ladies----that's just it - your child doesn't need to be entertained- that is how he got the way he is now and I think you sense this- but that is the way society is now- we ALL want to be entertained- is he inside playing video games, watching tv, or playing computer?

He can explore- ride his bike, make up games.... these are the children that develop real imaginations and higher IQ's- just get him started with a boy that does outside exploring but one that you can trust to have common sense.... you know, your Tom Sawyer type :-/
