Hair

Hair

My 29 month old is still taking the bottle for naps and bed time or in the car. She does this weird thing by pulling some of her own hair out and sticking it on the nipple and then drinks it. Why does she do this?

Habit , possibly a comfort thing dont read much into it, if you want to stop her using the bottle you can introduce a sippy cup ,but you know there are no rules on time frame and if you are okay with it, doesnt affect anyone.,when you want to start her off with the sippy cup in the car ,she may need the comfort of the bottle more at bed time.then  when you feel right about doing it, just let it get lost somewhere she will miss it for about 2 days...Good Luck

thankyou so much  for your feed back. Very much appreciated. She does drink from sippy cup when drinking water. She will only drink water, no juice or anything else. I tried to put her milk in cup and sippy cup and she spits it out. I keep holding out for when she is old enough to understand why she can't have the bottle. I know it is affecting her eating alot. She doesn't eat much at all.

Plenty of water is good dont worry about the milk for t he moment you can always introduce it at a later stage, she doesnt eat a lot because the milk is feeding her, so give her water in a sippy cup, at her age you can give her many finger foods, children often eat more once Moms stop spoon feeding them, they like to take control of their own eating, so give her a spoon, puddings, yoghort, cereal, some milk there, toast fingers with jelly, spaghetti, beans, peas, Banana, all fruits cut up, rice, fish sticks, chicken pieces, let her eat with her fingers, make a mess thats okay it all cleans up,  Dont make a fuss sit down with her and you eat yours she will copy then eat hers. Good luck, pretty adorable arent they .......

My daughter, who is now 4, used to do the same thing with her pacifer. I can't remember the exact age but I want to say somewhere around when she was 2. It drove my husband and I crazy. She would put her hair in her mouth and then the pacifer. The hair would get tangled in the pacifer and it was just a mess. I am not sure how long it lasted but it went away on it's own. I wouldn't worry to much about it in terms of there being some underlying issue but I can tell you that it sure is a pain to deal with. Good Luck!
