Have challenge to take him Swimming

My son is 5 years old. He was going for swimming lessons and he was doing good.
On his 4 lesson he start making excuses the class is too long, I'm scared, I don't like
my teacher and more other excuses.
So I told him if he doesn't go for swimming then no toys for you
He seem okay with he is not asking for his toy and doesn't want to go swimming.
What should I do in this cases? Let him choose or keep trying so he can go swimming

Please help me
Thank you

It is recommended that children not even take lessons before the age of six.  Your son is obviously not ready for this, and to try and force him will do more harm than good.  To see him do without his toys in order to not go tells you how scared he is.  He shouldn't be swimmimg without you keeping a close eye on him anyway at this age, whether he can swim or not. Try again next year, let him become more comfortable in the water for now.

Take care...

I think either

1.  Make him go

     OR

2.  Realize it's not fun,  and the best way to learn survival swimming is through recreational swimming and dedicate yourself to taking him recreational swimming.

Taking away toys because he doesn't want to continue an activity you signed him up for seems cruel and not really helpful.

There could be a reason why he doesn't want to swim and he's not telling you. I don't know what it is, but if he doesn't want to take swimming lessons I wouldn't make him. And I definitely would not take away his toys if he doesn't want to go. Give the toys back and ask him if there is something he would like to do, like take a martial arts class or something.

Do you have a set number of classes you have to go to and then it's over, if so finish it up and then don't sign up for anymore. I disagree with not trying before age 6, I started my son at age 4 in lessons. I think the really young ones are not helpful, esp for babies.  I would not take away toys.  Maybe say we have to do one more class and then it's over just so he realizes he cannot just quit activities or things b/c they are not "all fun".

Thank you all for your suggestions.
I gave alot of thought for his discussion my son is making
by not going for swimming.
He already did lessons before he liked them and he enjoyed
them also.
So I am trying to understand what is different this time.
Then I notice his friends and cousins are not doing anything.
They are not enrolled in any programs or activities and he is
doing. So he is trying different things so he doesn't haveto go.
He already droped from Taekwondo and skating. This is
my last try with him to do some activity. If not then I'll wait till he says that he wany to do some

Yes, see what he wants to do and if you sign up I think it's important to complete a class b/c in life he cannot always just quit.  YOu don't have to sign a two year commitment or anything.  My son does Karate and they are in 6 week increments which is good to see if htey like it or not. I had my son in swimming and eventually he got bored of it and did not want to go back anymore.  So I took him out.  I'm not putting him back into anymore, he had enough lessons and the rest I can teach him.  If he's not going to make a commitment then save your money and do it when he finds something he enjoys.
