Well Quinn is now 3 weeks old and for the past few nights from 11:00PM until 3:00 in the morning she is inconsolable. She throws an absolute fit and screams at the top of her lungs. Nothing I do works, I feed her and she feeds real frantically and ends up spittingBaby spitting up Spitting up up as she takes in too much air, I change her, rock her, walk with her... etc... This is killing me, I can understand cryingColic and crying Crying in infancy fits but ones that last this long are pretty excessive.
Then all of a sudden she falls asleep for 4 hours and is a sweetheart during the day.
Any suggestions or tips???
Alot of moms escpecailly first time moms will think oh how wonderful they just sleep & eat. Then to their dismay the baby will start crying all the time non stop. Or just certain times of the day like your decribing.
Remember dont take it personally. It wont last but a few months or so. Ifyou can get someone to help you so you dont loose your mind. Dont be afraid to ask for help. Your not a bad mom and your not doing anything wrong.
Are you sure she's eating often enough? If she's too hungry when she eats, she may seem desperate and gulp a lot of air, resulting in gas later. Also if breastfed, their schedules sometimes seem wacky at first(like feeding every 45 minutes for a few hours, or wanting to stay on the breast nonstop)but it's best to feed on demand.
Please don't think of it as a temper tantrum, she's probably letting you know she's in pain/discomfort of some sort.
That sounds like colic. That's what my son did. A little Mylicon and switching to Lactose-Free Similac did the trick :) His started around 2-3 weeks also.
i agree w/ the feeding. they start to get very hungry at 3 weeks and need more food. perhaps waking her at 10 or 10:30 to feed will help. this way she's not gulping the bottle when she gets it. maybe she won't get so much gas that way.
You say she drinks fast then spits up,the stream could be too fast if it spurts out what you do Is pump off first so the milk slows down, that is why she is spitting it up, also make sure she is burped well, seems a little early for cholic ,I would say definatly feed related. It is a tiring time but will settle into a routine, feed the baby fairly frequently soshe doesnt rush to gulp it down . Good Luck
try putting some cereal in the bottle.. might not be gettin enough to eat.
is she throwing it all up or just spitting up???
my son started the same thing when he was three weeks old but he would thorw it all up after he ate.. we fould out he had pyloric stenosis. the muscles in everyones stomach contracts to let food into the stomach to be digested and his wasnt doing this so when he ate it would just sit rigth there on top of the muscle waiting for it to contract and let the food in and it wouldnt so he would vomit.. they did a very minor surgery on him at 3 weeks old and he was back to normal in a couple of days!!
I read your post again and it does sound like you breast feed her, I also think because she is taking it too fast that it is causing soemgas ,stomach pain, especially as she yells when you are rocking her, it would be best to take her to see the pediatrician, and get her checked out,it sounds like something that can be adjusted but you'd feel better, incidently I dont think that food other than milk is recommended at this age, best to ask . Good luck let us know how she is doing ..
Try avoiding to much stimulation. Try white noise (A vacuum cleaner, a blow dryer, a white noise machine) this may help calm her.
Just have to wait it out. It wont last.
Good luck.
Colick usually starts after those first few weeks.

Have you tried swaddling her?
My son enjoyed being next to the dryer.
Sometimes babies just cry. I remember with my dd sitting in the bathroom with the shower running so I couldn't hear her scream. I was bawling myself.
It will get better, tummies mature, mummies get to sleep eventually.
