I now have 2 kids with rapid blinking.

I now have 2 kids with rapid blinking.

I have an 8 year olf child that was diagnosed with ADHD. Soon after he started taking his medication he started having rapid eye blinking arching of the neck and other tics. We took him to the er and they said he was fine to give him a mild sedative every night to help him sleep. He wasn't being able to sleep because the tics would get so bad at night. The nuerologist we took him to did an eeg and other tests and said they thought they were related to the meds. He is off the meds and still has them. Also they said if it was related to the meds he would not have the tics in his sleep. He has tics in his sleep. This is very concerning because the dr. tells me i must be mistaken. I am not mistaken. Now he still has them after a year. What is even more concerning is that my 2 year old son is now having rapid blinking and eye starring. They said my older son did not have tourrettes but i was wondering is this kind of odd that i now have two children with rapid blinking and tics. We have not taken my 2 yearold to the doctor yet. I also have a 4 year old daughter which has never expierenced any tics. It is only my two boys. What do you think it could be? We have no family history of tourettes but i have had focal point siezures due to an old closed head injury? Can any thing be related or is it just a fluke both boys have the same kind of tics when one was on meds and the other one has never had any? Please Help?

I don't think it's a "fluke" that both your boys have tics.  I think it's shared genetics.

My family is similar to yours.  I also have three children,  the oldest and youngest affected by tics,  and the middle (son) not.  My oldest was put on Ritalin for elementary school.  He had tics,  and they stopped when he was taken off Ritalin.  My youngest son never was put on any medication,  he has tics that come and go.  My middle child (a son) has no tics,  and no ADHD.

Best wishes.
