Put a little tea tree oil in your shampoo. It makes the lice abandon ship. Wear your hair down as well, ponytails and stuff help them grab on. It's not strange that your friend got it and then you got it again, not at all. Also, it's winter, the little buggers are more difficult in the winter. You can also use a flea and tick shampoo once a week or so, I would reccomend on the weekends, because it doesn't always smell great. Oh, about that tea tree oil, it doesn't smell wonderful either but I promise it will work. Use LOTS of conditioner and comb with that fine tooth comb you got in your lice kit, the conditioner will help you get the eggs out. I know it makes you feel gross but I'm sure you're a clean beautiful girl, it will pass.
Also, have your mom either wash all of your stuff in the hottest water possible for the garment and with Riddix (name of lice soap I believe) never share a hat or mittens of jackets with anyone. Also if you are at school and do not have a loccker try and put your outerwear garments as far away from everyone elses as you can. You and your mom will have to clean the house down from every corner-If you have lice in the house and leave one little nat the infection can start all over again...good idea get new pillows for every room or take them to a drycleaner to be cleaned.
Hi - try putting a lot of baby oil all over your hair and scalp - leave it in all day and night if you can - may be best over the weekend when there is no school, keep on and on combing through after it has been in a couple of hours with a nit comb.
To wash it out, put the shampoo on first and rub all over your hair as this lifts the oil off, then rinse.
Put the oil on again a few days later and repeat.
I have four children, three with long long hair, and we spent a fortune trying to get rid of nits, we bought every item over the counter, bought products from other countries, tried the teatree oil and every othe conncoction, but found this was the best.
Make sure all linen is washed and clothes/brishes/hats etc and have your hair tied back as much as you can. Also be careful about hat boxes - my childrens school used to put their hats all in the same basket, so when they put them on at playtime they must have all been in contact with the person who had nits.
Hope it works for you too.
the thing with lice is that they can get EVERYWHERE and some of them survive treatments sometimes, when i was younger i had them soooo many times so i feel like a lice expert now lol. anyway start with the treatment, can be bought at walmart or pharmacy anywhere, after doing that cover head in olive oil or mayonaisse and wear a shower cap to bed that night leave it in just saturate your hair in it. boil all brushes or clips hairbands, anything that goes in hair, and if its one of those brushes that has the rubber part that comes out just throw it away. wash sheets, pillow cases, spray couches and chairs wash all bedding and covers. oh btw that spray stuff can be bought at wal mart and pharmacies too. when you take the shower cap off in the morning use the comb to get ALL nits out of hair, some may still be alive but if they slide off of the hair strand they are DEAD HAHA! but if they stick they are still alive. i know youve had mayo or olive oil in your hair for the past day but resist washing, lice love clean hair it makes it easier for them to move and lay their eggs. just make sure that anything you use at that point is already washed or sprayed and for the next few weeks wear some sort of product in your hair (gel hairspray serum) anything that leaves any residue on the strands because lice hate that and rarely infect a head that has that sticky stuff on it. people always think that only dirty ppl get lice but that is far from the truth, they love clean hair more than anything. make sure after the treatment that all your nails are cut cleanly nits can get stuck under there and be returned to the hair through running your fingers through it or brushing, etc. same goes for rings or bracelets, make sure those are left off for a few days because they cannot survive without the hair for about a week i think. after a week repeat that same treatment with all the same precautions just in case anything survived and is breeding again in your hair. that should murder them good enough. sorry for such a long reply i just really really REALLY hate those little bugs from hell and would love nothing more than to know you killed every last one of them and that i helped. =0)
Oh I feel your pain...I had lice for about 2 years continuosly. IN HIGH SCHOOL! I was known as "the girl with lice", lol. I was doing treatments EVERY week. It would get most of them out, but never all. The ONLY thing that got rid of them once and for all was cutting my hair. I did a treatment and then went to the salon. Cut about half of it off. Took some time to grow my hair back but I've never had lice since!
