Is SID genetic?

I would like to know if Sensory Integration Dysfunction is genetic. My son has this, and although his father has never been in his life, they carry many of the same disposition traits and behaviors, although his father was never diagnosed with anything and was raised in east Africa.

Dear Ne-C Ette,

SID is a type of neurointegrative disorder, and definitely has a genetic component (vs conditions that are related primarily to social stressors, environmental variables, etc.). Thus, it is fair to say that there is an hereditary factor to it, even though relatives may not display the range or severity of symptoms a child might display.
