Is my son taking seizures!!

by natashalee, Dec 03, 2007 10:56AM
I've been watching my son play and I notice that sometimes he gets these jerking movements in his are or his head.  Sometime it happens up to 3 times a day.  When it happens he is just off in a daze.  He doesn't seem to be stressed when it happens.  I know it could be nothing, but I just feel something is not right.   What should I do?

You should call this to the attention of his pediatrician. If indeed the movements are involuntary and represent motor tics, they do not necessarily indicate any serious problem. Tic disorders can be benign. But it's not a good idea to assume one way or the other, and it's best to have your son evaluated, strating with the pediatrician. He/she may then refer you to a pediatric neurologist.
