IN my opinion, 5 is too young for meds. There are many things u can try first. Get him private speech therapy besides the therapy he gets at school. Its a good thing the neurologist doesnt think he is on the spectrum..thats wonderful. Just continue to address whatever his problems are...like if he has behavior problems..u can see a behavioral therapist... and maybe try changing his diet..see if that helps. There are lots of things to do before the medication route..that should be last resort..i think.
