Mood Swings

I have a son who will be 4 at the end of March.  He does nothing but whine and cry when he is home.  I have recently begun to wonder if he has a food allergy or if there is a chemical imbalance that is making him this way.  From the time he wakes up in the morning he can be just very difficult to deal with.  I thought the 2's were bad, until he turned 3, and it has just seemed to have gotten worse as the year has gone by.  He is in pre-school ( i work outsidde of the home but at a very flexible job) and he fights with me to go in the mornings.  Then when I get him there he is completely fine and he enjoys seeing all of his friends and his teachers.  When I pick him up he immediately starts fighting with his 2 year old sister, or he will ask for something and if I say "no" he will freak out.  After his melt down he can either be as sweet as can be or he can continue to have a fit about eveery little thing.  We are not the type of parents who give in to our children and just give them what they want when they cry, so I do not understand why this situation just keeps getting worse.  He is also starting to have quite an attitude on a regular basis.  Is this normal 3/4 year old behavior?  I am really at my wits end here.  ANy advice, I will appreciate!

I have a 7 yr. old a 3 1/2 yr old. My 7 yr old use to do the same thing. I figured it out. She was jelouse of the younger brother. She was ok when he was a baby but as he got older she got worse. So, I set aside 1 day a week  to do something special just her and I or her daddy. We would go shopping or daddy would take her to the movies. When she felt special and we explained that she had to act like a big girl so brother can learn from her it fixed the problem. She sometimes will act out and she is 7 now I know its time for a girl day. Try a day with mommy and see if it helps. Good luck!

That could be.  I hadn't really thought about it.  That would make sense, because he is all cuddly and sweet with me in the am and then the minute I get his siter out of her crib, all heck breaks loose!  I will try that and I think it just may work!  Thanks for you advice!
