My 3 year old nephew is seeing things

My nephew just turned 3 in the beginning of March. This past week he has been acting very strangely. We were outside and he kept asking why the grass was taller than he was ( the grass was cut and not even past his ankles). Then we were inside and he ran over to me grabbing my leg and he was trembling. When i asked what was wrong he told me that the floor was trying to suck him up. Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong?

Wow, answer by Rockrose is really interesting. I have never heard of that.  It is certainly worth researching!
However, I would also also ask Mom if he has had similar reactions with her, or recently seen any movies where this kind of thing was going on.  Kids of his age are still not very good at communicating, and are very impressionable.  So who knows what is going on?

I would certainly appreciate it if you get any more information that you share it so we could use it to help other kids who might have a similar problem.

Sounds like he may have "Alice in Wonderland Syndrome" or Todd's Syndrome,  which in small children is often a symptom of mononucleosis.  Both the zooming of the floor and the believe that the grass is taller than he is are described in this article.

I was diagnosed with "Alice in Wonderland Syndrome" when I was very young, I would describe my symptoms as a 'debalancing' of all my senses (sight / perception, touch, hearing, etc). I’m 25 now so it’s hard to remember all the things I felt at the time, but I was marked by certain things. I was seeing the walls or floors far away from me (once when my mother was driving me to the hospital, I was afraid of falling off my seat), I told my mother that I was seeing her very small, and sometimes when the fever was waking me up in the middle night, I had the impression that my bed sheets were hard. You can be severely affected with much more pronounced symptoms, but for me my symptoms are only present when I have a high fever. When I was a child, I had a lot of ear infections (otitis), so it happened very often. Now the last time it happened to me was 2 years ago and my symptoms are less pronounced. I get the fear of heights when I look at the ground and I get disoriented.. It is very confusing for a child, you wonder if you are loosing your mind. It would be important to go see a pediatrician, because his symptoms could be much more serious and if that is not what he has you will be able to look for the true cause.
