My 3yr old is touching the girls in his class

by MrsRenee, Mar 26, 2001 12:00AM
My husband and I were just told of our son's behavior in school. The daycare teacher told us that he has been overly friendly with the girls. He lays on top of them and puts his hand up their shirts.  I am very worried about this behavior. I don't know what to do about it.
Please help.

The first and most important thing to do is to set a firm, no-nonsense limit with your son to stop the behavior, and to discipline him (via immediate time out) for any infraction. He should be told he may not touch other people in that way. Beyond this, figure out where the behavior came from - i.e., what gave him this idea. We sometimes think we're being careful about what our kids experience, but we've got to be very vigilant about what very young children observe (in the family, on TV, in the print media, etc.).
