My 4 year old refused to wear clothes

My 4 year old will not wear clothes. She is very head strong and since last year we have tried several thing to help the dressing in the morning go better.  This year she is attending preschool. She loves to go but does not want to either get dressed (wants to wear a robe and thats it) or wants to wear clothes that don't fit her.  It seemed at first that it was a matching thing but thats not it. Now she screams and crys that thy hurt her, and she has started doing this with going to bed as well stating that the bed is poking her and hurting her.  Is this just a head stong little girl trying to control us or is this something else?  She also will not wear panties and sock ever. and only wants to wear shoes (like crocs) that don't tie.  We have tried letting her go to the store and pick out all the clothes she would be willing to wear but it didn't help either.  It is a huge fight to get her dressed on school days and we hate that the morning has to be like that its not fair to anyone to be honest and I want to fix it.

The wide ranging and intense nature of your daughter's reactions indicates that she likely displays problems with sensory integration, particularly in the area of tactile sensations. Such problems can be the cause of considerable discomfort and distress with children, and the situation invites an evaluation by an Occupational Therapist. You may well be able to arrange this through your public school system and, if not, ask your daughter's pediatrician for a referral.
