My 8 year old stepson poops in his pants.

He says he does not want to stop playing to use the bathroom. He came to live with us 8 months ago. He was mostly raised by an older teenage step brother and there was never any discipline. It appears his mother and step brother just didn't care what he was doing. The first few times, he was talked to and lost his tv, but nothing has changed. He tries to hide it and other times he is honest when asked. He says the kids in school say he smells like poop and gets upset, but it continues. He has been wearing pull-ups at home and has defecated in those. We are at our wits end, he has not been physically punished as we don't want to do that. Please help

No pullups at all it is enabling the behavior, do not be at your wits end allow him to be in control of his bodily functions, if he bathes regularly he wont smell. Take a step back and leave him alone it seems to me that too many may be on his case ..No punishments physical or other wise .
