My 8 year old will not part with things

My 8 year old daughter is attached to things.  She has allot of toys but would rather watch tv.  Every year we give to charaty's, this year she refuses.  She was the only child for almost 7 years we have another daughter now (5 months) and we are worried about the attachement to things.  It's not just toys, clothes even rocks and leaves she pics up when we go on walks.  What can we do?

Unless this behavior gets in the way of her normal development in some way, you needn't do anything. If she is thriving in the family, doing well in school and enjoying a normal friendship and activity life, it's OK to leave the situation alone.
