My 8 yr old does not play

I have an 8 yr old son who doesnt play at home with anything! I havr bought him toys he asks for and plays for 1 day then he leaves them behind. I dont allow him tv until at night or video games!
He sometimes plays with neighgbours outside but at home he finds nothing to do!
What can i do? How can i help him keep busy at home? I cant entertain him all day... But i have to find a solution!

Your post is confusing.  

Is he an only child?  It would be unusual for an only child to amuse himself quietly playing alone with toys (although there are some kids who do that,  and THEIR parents are worried that they are autistic,  *sigh*).  

If he's in school all day until about 3 in the afternoon,  I don't see that anyone has to "entertain him all day".  

Can you elaborate more about why this seems like such an effort?

He has a 2 yr old brother. Unless we dont take him swimming or skating or pay with him at home he does not entertain himself at all at home! I decided to take away the tv and video games until he start finding a hobbie... Am i doing right i need tips on how he can find a hobbie...

I would take him to a summer camp, he's bound to have fun and meet new people. Also take the time to check out other things like Karate, Horseback riding, the Zoo, and let him try an instrument. My brother and I always used to play with Lego's and army men. He will find something in no time you just have to try new things. Hope this helps.
