CHILD BEHAVIOR COMMUNITY
My sister's very odd behavior.

My sister's very odd behavior.

I recently visited my parents for a long weekend.  My little sister is about 16 and still lives with them. She has a speech impairment and has a learning disability. When I was there she displayed some (to me) disturbing behavior. Her lips and  hands were chapped. She would pick at them and make them bleed. She was constantly going to the bathroom to brush her teeth and wash her hands. I commented that she should stop picking her lips and she yelled at me and went to her room to cry. I asked my other sister, (Rachel) who is 14, what did I say to make her do that. Rachel said she has been very emotional for a few years but she has become much worse. Our mother says she is just being a teenager. That night i woke up around four am to visit the loo. I heard someone talking so went to investigate. My sister was in the living room pacing and talking to herself. Apparently, she does this quite often. She sleeps very little and has conversations with herself all the time. The next night it happened again. And the next morning the entire kitchen was reorganized.  I am worried about her. My parent's don't think it is anything is wrong. But they didn't think anything was wrong with me and I am dyslexic and have ADHD-I. Which I didn't find out about until college.

I think your sister should be seen by the Doctor to see what is going on ,in the least she is not happy so an evaluation would be a good , how is school going has she any problems there ., does she have friends and get out ?

The behaviors sounds very obsessive and compulsive.  I think too a vist with a doctor is warranted.  Maybe your parents are in denial about it.
