My son is 33 months and barely talks

My son is 33 months and while he is a very intelligent little boy who can follow directions and understand what you are saying he only says limited words, such as momma, hi,  tea, and this other than that everything he "says" is uuunh if you ask him can you say ball hell say uh-huh and then i'll say ok say it and hell say uunnh he says da for daddy and everything he points to is this. If you ask him to say thank you hell say unh unnnhh he sounds like hes saying the two words thank you but not the actual words hes fully developed in other areas if you ask him to point something out he will, hes fully potty trained but even when we wants something he just says uunh and points and if you dont understand what he wants he cries and screams like hes frustrated I'm really worried about him  my husband and i as his parents can sometimes guess what he wants or else his show us physically, like bringing up his cup saying unnh and pointing to the fridge, he points to everything but people who are not with them all the times doesnt understand him. Is this normal, he turns 3 in 3 months and everyone says hes behind

Your son's delay in the important area of expressive speech/language is a cause for concern. Arrange an evaluation with a Speech/Language clinician asap.

Have you had him evaluated?  If not, give the Birth to 3 in your area a call and they will evaluate him for free.

I can only say that my mom was like this when she was little.  She did not start talking until 4 and she developed normal speech.  Sometimes some children are just delayed in one area or another and it just takes longer to catch up.

Both of my children were speech delayed.  The oldest was about 2 before he talked at all and he is fine now.  My youngest talked normally but about 3 developed speech problems.  He still has a little bit of problems but is mostly normal.

That is about all the advise I can offer.  Sorry it is not more.
