My son is having Behaviors at day nursery too

by lovemykids78, Nov 11, 2008 08:10AM
Almost everything you have all mentioned above sounds the same as my 2 1/2 year old son who also has blonde hair and blue eyes!  My son has been attending the same nursery since he was 1, the nursery have 3 rooms for the children, a room for 0-2yrs, 2-4yrs & 4-6yrs, my son was moved from the 0-2 to the 2-4 room in August this year.  He has been a really energetic child since he could move and has remained this way, he is a very bubbly, cheerful little boy and the staff at the day nursery love him to bits, although they do admit that he is a handful compaired to the other children of the same age.  They say it's his personality that makes him seem larger than life and that he stands out from the rest.  However for the past month he has been having "Behaviors" such as throwing chairs, hitting other children with and without toys and yesterday he hit 2 children for no reason and when he was told that this was not acceptable he ran and pulled another childs hair, he was then removed from the sittuation and placed in time out.  The staff said he would not listen to them at all for the rest of the day and was running around causing incident after incident.  My son remained the same for the rest of the evening at home (which is unusual) as he is usually okay when i pick him up, but he was very moody and would not speak to me for at least an hour which i found upsetting, it's like he's blaming me for something that i can't help him with!  Please help!

This discussion is related to 2 1/2 yr old throwing tantrums and hurting children in daycare.

Perhaps he is'nt stimulated enough, you say they have toys at the nursary do they also play games, read to the children ,is there an outside area that they can play and climb and use up their Physical energy, .How many children are in the 2-4 room, is it possible other children are acting out and he is copying them. Check if there is anything at home has changed that could have upset him aswell, new Baby? new home . Family.
