My son throws aweful fits..

My son will be six in a few weeks. He has always been a very hyper and physical child. I have had problems with him throwing fits in the past, but that had pretty much stopped in the last year or so. In the fall he started kindergarden and at first it was a very hard adjustment and there were behavioral problems. I used a sticker chart at home to reward him for good days and the bad behavior pretty much stopped. He even would tell me how much he liked school. His teacher is new and very young. She uses color stickers to let me know how he was for the day, but she never writes a note about what happened if it was a "red" day. Until about 6 weeks ago he was good pretty much all the time then something changed and he started getting in trouble everyday at school.  Throwing fits, hitting, not listening, crying....you name it. After a few weeks of this at school his behavior started changing at home. Mainly he throws fits at the drop of a hat. Like I said there is very poor communication on the teachers part so I started attending his class once a week and was shocked when I saw her punishment.  Not to my knowledge she was having my child sit at a desk facing away from the class not at the tables with the rest  of the class. Not only this but she took away his gym, recess, art, spanish, and lunchroom priveleges. Everyday he is on green he can earn something back, if not he gets nothing back.  Last weeks everyday he was on yellow for talking in the hall. I think this is harsh for a 5 yr old. I asked her not to sit him there anymore and have seem some improvement in school. The behavior is still terrible at home. He throughs huge fits all the time now and is mean to other children. I have tried it all and I dont know what else to do

There is a book called titled "The Explosive Child" by Ross W. Greene.  It can be purchased in bookstores, on-line or borrowed from a public library.  Perhaps, it might be of some help.
