Hi  Need some insight.  I have a 3 year old Grand daughter slowly over time she have become obessive about her things. Her shoes, her Disney vido tapes, she places things in a way and goes back from time to time to check to make sure they are not touched or moved.  Now she has taking things that belong to her parents and a big power struggle begins when they try to get what is thier's back. She crys and get very emotinal letting her cry does not work. Placeing her in her room dos not work. Talking to her and loving her does not work.    Please any help  Do we need to seek Medical help?

There is likely no need at this point for professional intervention. Rather, a straightforward, practical behavior management approach might well be sufficient. Here's what I'd suggest. Let her know that taking other people's things is not allowed, and that if such behavior occurs she will immediately be placed in time out (sitting in an adult-size chair) for ten minutes. The time should commence only when she is seated quietly in the chair. If she cries, this will run its course - no need to make a fuss about it. Just be sure not to start her time out on the timer (and be sure to use a timer) until she is quiet.
