PDD NOS or not?

by aliyabe, Jul 26, 2008 02:32PM
My daughter is almost 4 years old. She started speaking only about a year ago and is still echolalic - i.e. she just remembers some words/expressions/sentences and repeats them in appropriate situations. She started to do #1 in the potty just recently and we still can't teach her to #2. She has often outbursts of temper, can scream and repeat one word many times. She can't really play with other kids, but not because she doesn't want to, she simply can't communicate with her peers.
One doctor claimed that she might have PDD NOS. Would you say that these are the symptoms?

Yes, it is a distinct possibility that you daughter displays a condition along the PDD spectrum. A developmental evaluation would be prudent at this point. Do you have access to a pediatric hospital in your general area? Such evaluations can often be conducted at such facilities.
