I am still breastfeedingBreast-feeding tips Breastfeeding Breastfeeding - resources my child at 2 years and 11 months. I am a single mum and my daughter is very close to me. She sleeps half the night in my bed with me. I've been trying to ween her for a year now and i cannot do it. Its extremely hard for me. She mainly falls asleep with the breast. She will NOT go to sleep without it. She will scream histarically until she gets it. I just dont know what to do. Its very hard for me to continue to breastfeed her. Its becoming extremely uncomfortable and my nipples are sagging. I really dont want to have plastic surgery. I have tried giving her a bottle with milkBreast milk Breast milk jaundice Lactose intolerance Nipple discharge - abnormal and sugar instead of the boob, but she prefers the boob. I have tried soft music, cradling, stroking, patting, singing, tiring her out, letting her cry it out. I have tried everything. The doctor suggested tablets which would stop me lactating. However, i think my daughter wouldnt handle that if the milkBreast milk Breast milk jaundice Lactose intolerance Nipple discharge - abnormal disappeared. I just hate it when she cries. And i am alone, so its very hard for me to take so much pressurePressure ulcer. Sometimes i thought i would go totally insane. Sometimes she asks for it in a public place like the park or restaurant, thats when i get very embarassed and have to leave. PLEASE HELP ME WITH ANY SUGGESTIONS. THANK YOU!!
Isnt there a breastfeeding support group? La Leche group International. They may be so fanatical though that they encourage you to continue- I am so sorry you are alone and going through this. Will pray for you to find wisdom and some answers.
The only other thing some of us mothers use when an answer for a child doesn't seem to get through is that
"It's just a rule" and you are too old. Sometimes our doctors tell us to use this sort of philosophy when our kiddos stop using pacifier etc. Good luck honey
I have no suggestions or experience, but you may want to try posting this question in the breastfeeding forum, as many of the ladies there have gone through weaning at different ages and stages.
