Playing With Feces

My son is nearly 10 years old. He is such a sweet boy who makes friends very easily. He has been is special education for processing delays.
He becomes constipated because he will not go to the bathroom when he needs to for fear he will miss a show or a game.
One night my husband smelled our son's feces on our blanket.
As a baby he would fingerpaint his room with it.

Is there a psychological problem that needs to be addressed with him?

I would have him checked. This isnt normal for a child of his age unless something is wrong
