Please Help... out of control 5 yr old!

my 5 yrs old son was recently put on Prozac - he suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome; however he's still completely aggressive and even tells me he wants to kill me... He's in behavioral Therapy and Parent Child Interaction Therapy... i'm at a loss... he's on his 4th Preschool this year! What do i do? How can i help him behave better?

I wonder if Prozac is the correct medication for your son.  Our child was also on Prozac for a few months and it caused her to be hyperactive and aggressive.  She also was unable to sleep or "calm down".  I read a short time ago that Prozac has this effect on those who suffer from OCD so I suspect it could also affect other anxiety disorders (and your son's diagnosis could be in the "anxiety" category).  Our child was diagnosed with severe social anxiety and not OCD but I am beginning to think that she is developing that disorder, as well.  That being said, Prozac can work wonders for many children and adults; just not our child.

I think that I would discuss this possibility with your son's doctor.  Perhaps another medication might be far more suitable.  All the best ....
