Poop smearing.

Why does my 5yr old son smear his poop all over my bathroom and his bedroom? He will go for a poop and will either not wipe himself and run 2 the bedroom n wipe on his bed and walls or he ends up with it all over his hands, in my sink, bath and all over the walls and door! He has been doing this for almost a year now and I don't know how to make him stop! I no longer have visitors because he does this most days and I get embarrassed at the smell it leaves behind in my home. I have also went through 3 mattresses since June. When I ask why he does it he replies because or I don't know.

Does he bahve like this anywhere else like school or other places ?

He needs to see a child psychiatrist.  I would call your primary care doctor no matter how embarressing it is and tell them what is going on.  Get a referrel and be seen as soon as possible.  good luck

Has there been any major changes in his life , new sibling or anything may upset him sometimes children do act out when upset .

He has done it at my friends homes and also family homes but not as often, he hasn't done it at school as he waits till he comes home to poop.

I have been in touch with my doctor and I am waiting on them referring him to he health visitor, I have also spoken with the school and a social worker is coming to speak with me on Tuesday as his behaviour in and out the home has also took a turn for the worst.

When this started last year we had just been made homeless and I also lost my job right at the time of his birthday. That was his 1st birthday without his father present and his father hasn't visited since last january. We also had 2 put our dog to sleep because her health had become a lot worse and I was very stressed which didn't help at all. We have since moved into our new home and he started school but he still seems very unsettled and upset. I hate seeing him like this and I'm trying everything I possibly can but unfortunately I cannot make his dad visit or even speak to him on the phone.

Yes he has been through a lot, maybe getting him another dog may help, the fact he doesn't do it at home he waits is telling. I think its possible its his way of getting attention is he an only child ?,Have you spoken to your Doctor about the behavior.?
