My hy sit husband and I just got a divorce, so our son is primarily going to be with me. I have asked him if he wanted to use his potty and he dosen't. I have bought three different toilets to try to help. They just sit there. I change them out every so often to hopefully get a result. He sits on them full clothed just for a second and then he comes in with me and gets my toilet paper for me and then flushes it and shuts the lid. He even likes getting toilet paper and flushing it in the toilet when I am in the next room. His daycare requires that a 3 yr old be potty trained. How to I get him interested in using training potties rather than diapers?
Sincerely,
Caroline Bules
Try some of the books out there on Potty Training- like its Potty Time, and then read the books to him and start the process.
With my son, we basically laid it out for him that it was not an option - we told him what was happening, and he did not fight us. We took away the diapers, put him in underwear, let him get wet and messy -- that lasted about 3 days-- then he got it! Realy-- took no time. He has had a total of 4 accidents since then -- that was almost 4 years ago. However, we was just over 3 when that happened. But I bet if we had done that when he was just under 3 he would have responded the same.
You could get the books. programs. and then just start-- don't give him an option- might go easier than you think.
