Potty resistance in a 4-1/2 year old and then some...

My daughter turned 4 in July of this year, we started her late potty training (about 2 months ago) due to an intestinal imbalance, now she's on probiotics and has normal and mostly regular bowel movements.  She insists on wearing underwear during the day (great), stays dry and uses the potty at pre-k on her own (great), I take her on errands for hours and she lets me know and stays dry (great).  It's when we are home, she resists and goes in her pants and will stay in it and not let us know.  It doesn't even bother her, we've tried reward charts, nope, we've tried 3 M&Ms per pee, nope, once she tries something, after a week she just doesn't care about the rewards.  I'm bipolar and my husband has a history of depression as well.  We are well managed on our medications but wonder if this is related.  She is soooooooooooo moody, I have 2 sons who potty trained no problem.  Please help.  We will be seeing a social worker to help us work together as parents to address her "issues".

No, it's not really likely that the family history of mood disorder has any relationship to your daughter's behavior around training. Remember, she's only recently begun the process. From my perspective, she's doing fine, having made more progress in a short while than most children would have made. You have placed her behavior in the category of PROBLEM - my advice is to place it in the category of NOT A PROBLEM and continue to work on it in a patient, positive, supportive fashion.
