Question about effects from Xanax while pregnant

We do foster parenting- We have a one year old and recently found out the mom took Xanax while pregnant.... Not sure if she took any other drugs or not. we have had the child for 8 months.

Can this (Xanax) cause long term problems in a child?

The reason I ask is,We have several concerns with the child. We are not sure if it is serious, just being a toddler and/or what to do. The child is a BITTER and gets into trouble at day care at least 3 times a week. She has a TEMPER where she will get mad and bang her head. She will try to bite us, scratch, anything and has been doing this for a few months.

We have a teenage son but I dont remember him doing any of these things. I have dealt with many children (infants and toddlers) but have never seen this before.

Could this something from being drug exposure during pregnancy?

We are at our wits end in knowing what to do- The day care is concerned with the childs actions. One minute the child is loving and the next can be so mean. I know it sounds harsh but even the day care says she can be very mean.

I would taken the child in to a behavioral specialist before i would asume anything. I can not imagine xanax having caused all of the childs behavior problems. The child being that young acting out there is other issues than xanax, be strong and pray to god to see you through this. Get to a doctor dont give up you will make it my prayers are with your family.
