I have a 5 yr old son and a 2 yr old daughter.  My son refuses to eat.  He has not voluntarily eaten in almost 2 years.  I can not get hime to eat potatoes, vegetables, or any kind of meat.  His Dr. keeps telling me that it is ok.  As long as he is eating things like peanut butter, rice, and drinking milk along with proper vitamins he should be ok.  He has now been diagnosed anemic and was put on palafer.  I feel that something is wrong but don't want to argue with him to eat anymore because it doesn't work.  He would rather go to bed with no snack or have any treats then eat his supper.  The worst of it all is his sister now has started refusing to eat certain foods because she sees him not eating them.  I really am at a lost and don't know how to handle this.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  I don't want his school or anyone else thinking I am not feeding him.  He only weighs 36 lbs and is 3 ft 4 in.

Dear Celina,
Iam a mother of a 2 year old daughter, and I think I understand your problem. My daughter stopped eating from the age of 4 months, and still is a very difficult eater. All investigations done was normal. But her Weight, and height are in the "Undernourished " Catergorily.Basicall, feeding times are a frustretion to everybody. Now I do not panick as such,if she refuses to eat,and if coaxing also fails,I give up.This I do because of the fear of developing a some sort of a Psychologial problem latter in her adult life. But I think there is an improvment,in the sense that if she is hungrey, atleast once a day,she will eat.My daughter does not like snacks, chocolets or any sweets,I do not force on her,but let her eat anything at any time, even in the middle of the night. So I would say to you, stop worring.and Time will settle the problems.
Good Luck.
