Respidal

by spmanger, Oct 08, 2008 11:50AM
My son who is 12 yrs old, ADD and ODD, very opinionated and difiant, knows how to control it when he wants something, is highly manipulated and seeky. Our battles are over control and having the last word. At the same time, he is over-sensitive, a pleaser, very negative with low self esteem, constantly bates me whether I love him or not. We are participating in TKD to assist with his self esteem and he holds it together and is very disciplined in class. He is currently taking Adderall (adderrall) XR for his ADD, but his constant anger and annoying behavior (button pushing) is really getting me down. He has alienated himself from his grandparents in so much they can not cope with him anymore (sadly). His doctor now wishes to put him on Respidal and depression medication, I am very uneasy with it since we have tried so many others in the past. Does any one has any experience  with what I am describing and have seen successes? Thanks in advance

my neighbor's son used it- I think and I think the anti anxiety meds is a wonderful idea- just takes the edge off- it won't make him a zombie most likely- you know he has trouble and the more positive times you all have together will be welcome- yes? Try it for 90 days-

-- disciplined in class? structure- firm guidelines- how many other children do you have BTW?
