Can RitalinLA and Paxil be taken together , Child 12years old takes RitalinLA 20mg and Paxil !5mg

Yes, the two medications can be taken together. Here's one word of guidance for you: talk with the prescribing clinician about the use of Paxil. Recent warnings have been issued about its use in the pediatric/adolescent population, particularly when the medication is prescribed to treat symptoms of depression. The same warnings do not appear to appply to patients who are treated for anxiety with Paxil.

WHAT ARE THE WARNINGS(PLEASE EXPLAIN)FOR CHILDREN TAKING PAXIL?

by Kevin Kennedy, Ph.D., Aug 06, 2003 12:00AM
The FDA issued a caution that suicidal behavior might be prompted in pediatric patients who take Paxil. The matter should be discussed with the clinician who prescribes the medication, in order to reach a decision about wheter to continue treatment with Paxil or switch to another medication. It is particularly pediatric patients who are prescribed Paxil for symptoms of depression (vs, for example, anxiety) who are the patienys about whom the concern were raised.
