Rocking and banging head

Rocking and banging head

My 3 year old granddaughter constantly rocks back and forth and will bang her head on the back of the sofa or chair while doing so.  If her mom puts her in the bedroom she will set by the door and bang the back of her head on the door.  She will also wake up in the middle of the night banging the back of her head on the wall.  She is also very greedy with her toys.  She throws terrible tantrums if she cannot have what she wants.  My daughter said that a doctor told her this was very normal for her child to bang her head like this.  I really don't think it is.  She constantly is moving and never stops talking.  She has a sister that is 1 and is very mean to her.  But, her behavior was like this before the baby came.  I would appreciate any information you have if any on this.  I am very concerned that there is something wrong.
                                Sincerely
                                Grandma of 5

There may not be anything wrong; the symptom itself does not indicate any particular condition. However, it is also not reasonable to assume that all is well. A sensible course would be to schedule an evaluation by a developmental psychologist or a developmental pediatrician. This would ascertain your granddaughter's status in the various spheres of development.

My daughter is 2 and she acts the same way I posted a question above titled My 2 year old is very mean and out of control. My Doctor has told me it was normal too but I dont think it is so I am taking her to a phychologist on Nov. 13 to see if we can get some answers I will be praying for you and your granddaughter and I just really wanted to let you know your not alone.
