School Behaviour

by ConcernedMother2005, Aug 26, 2008 10:16AM
I am worried about when my son starts grade 1 as last year he did kindergarten and had some issues where the school was saying he was hitting staff. They would call me and leave a voicemail with him screaming in the back ground. They are blaming his daycare but I took him to 2 different counselors in the city and they lay blame on the school as his behavior at school shows no where else. It had gotten so bad that they did not want him back for kindergarten. He says it is because the kids were being mean to him but the staff would say they never saw that happen. He has voiced that he does not want the same school and I am trying to get him into another but I am afraid he may do this all over again. We have told him that the way he acted in kindergarten was not good and that he can't do that anymore but is there anything else I can say or do that will assure he is better for Grade 1.

Please help!!

I hope you have enrolled your son in another school.  If his behaviour is good, then you will know that the previous school (for whatever reasons) was the problem.  If his behaviour is bad, then you will need to find a third professional who can better guide your son while at school.  I wish you the best ...

My daughter went through the same issues in grade school. She did not hit the staff but she had major melt downs and it was because the other kids would pick on her and the teacher would say she did not see it. Have you talked to the principle about this? I ended up taking her out and taking her to another school. I told the new school exactly what had happened at the old school and asked what their policy on that situation was. They told me they had a strict policy against bullying then told my daughter if she had any issues to let them know. She is now a healthy 14 year old and a perfect student. SO, I suggest you find a new school, and make an apt w/ the principle and have a talk w/ them before you enrole him.
