Sensory Intergrated

My 10 year old son has sensory intergrated sensitivity.  I would like to get more information on it and how to help him handle melt downs.  When he comes home from school it is total hell.  He also has a mild case now of asthma and he has psorasis over 75% of his body.  Otherwise he is a very loving and caring boy and always worrys about everyone else.  I also heard something about the brush therapy, do you know anything about this.  Also any good reading material?

I also have a daughter that has reflux and has not out grown it yet.  She is 2 years old.  Any help or suggestions of different testing that should be done maybe there is an underlining problem here.

Please help

Dear Ms. Scheinberg,

Sensory integration difficulties indicate that the child's brain has limitations in relation to organizing the input from the various senses. The condition takes many forms and can represent a range of severity from mild to quite serious.

If you click on the Archives or Search options in this Forum, you will be provided with a number of resources, including past postings about this disorder. For this reason, I won't go into any further detail here.

Since your daughter was diagnosed with reflux, I'm assuming she has already seen a pediatric gastroenterologist. If not, that would be a reasonable source of help.
