What can cause a 3 day old infant to have brain sezures?

Probably the most common cause of seizure in the neonatal period is seizure brought on by body temperature. However, there can be other neurological problems as well. Listen carefully to your pediatrician and be sure to ask questions.

You might want to get ahold of a recent Reader's Digest.  One article talked about a child with infantile seizures.  With the help of seizure medications, the patient overcame the seizures.  Good luck, this must be a scarey time for you if your child is having seizures.

The baby might have been having them because of a fever. they are still doing tests.

my friend's son had seizures @ 7 days old due to calcium deficiency. He was in hospital, released and is a fine, happy 2 year old.

I have a 9 year old girl that has lots of different seizures, but you know what , that does not make me a bad mother. I can not believe that someone would say that..My child has a brain disorder but not from bad mothering......

my daughter has hydrocephalus and has many different seizures sometimes lasting for up to 4 hours.  I was told she would never walk and talk and would be totally brain-damaged.  However she is now 4, has lots of fun, walks, talks and does everything a normal 4 year old would do.  She is starting school in September with her sister.  Siezures can be caused by many things and hers is caused by joint ventricles.

I also forgot to say that the "thing" that said she was a bad mother must of had a siezure one day and never got over it !!  She obviously doesnt have any children especially a special need one who needs lots of love, unlike her.

My son is four months old and just had three sezures in two days. I'm glad that there is things like this on the web. It has helped to ease my mind a litte while I wait for his brain and cat scan results to come back.
