Significant Gross Motor Delay

My daughter is 27 months old and has been tested for gross motor issues. At 14 months, she had a 50% delay, but caught up in 6 months. (At 14 months, she could not even roll over on her own.) She is now 2 standard deviations below normal again.  They said yesterday that her muscle tone is below average.  Her problems consist of difficulty climbing, running, jumping and feeding herself.  Cognitively she is amazing, and her fine motor skills are great.  Her only delay is with her gross motor skills.

She was a full term, 8lb 6oz. baby.  They took her 2 weeks early because she was a scheduled c-section.  I did not drink, do drugs or anything like that when I was pregnant - I was very healthy during my pregnancy with her.

We are waiting to see a developmental Ped. but we will be waiting a long time.  Do you have any ideas for what could possibly cause a delay like this?  Thank you for your time.

I don't want to speculate about this - there are simply too many posssible explanations, and the only sensible course is to continue with clinical evaluations. You are doing the right thing by way of the appointment you have scheduled.
