Six year old showing his privates

by Shep101, Feb 15, 2007 12:00AM
My six year old son was caught this morning with his four year old sister asking her to 'kiss it and make it better'  When I came out into the living room he quickly pulled his pants up and acted like he was watching TV.  When asked about it he said it was her that was trying to see it and he was telling her no, which is a lie, I heard him from the other room, and thats why I came out in the living room to investagate.

There is no way this is normal....I dont even know where he might have heard or learned something like this.  We're pretty careful about what we watch or listen to.  Any suggestions on how we should handle this?  Thanks.

This may be normal behavior---My son who is four has asked me to do this a few times--I always tell him no that his penis is his private parts and that no one should touch them except for him (other thanif we are at the doctor and has to be checked.) I asked him why he would want a kiss there and he said that he didn't know that it just sounded funny--so you never know how those little minds work...I would maybe just sit down with him in a private room and explain that what he asked his sister to do was not right and he is the only one allowed to touch himself there. And if you ever hear him ask her to do this again (tell him what the consequences will be  in punshiment.)

My DD and my nephew did that once - They were playing one day and my DD fell and hurt her privates a little and asked my nephew to kiss it - I was a little freaked out at first but then realized - Anytime my kids get hurt what do I do - I kiss the boo boo - I think for kids whose parents do things like that it is only natural to ask someone to "kiss" it - Does that make sense????   I would not worry about the first time but keep an eye.  They do have a natural curiosty about their privates but just keep explaining it is for THEM only.  Good luck.  It's a tough job being a parent UGH!!!!

Completely normal, remember they are innocent, what he was doing had no sexual context for him.  I do think you need to have a calm one on one tak about private parts being private, but I wouldn't make a big deal about it.  Make sure he feels empowered not shamed so he will be able to articulate to you if he has concerns.

When I was in primary, my friend Mark used to show us all his penis on a regular basis.  All the little girls were fascinated.  I wonder if he remembers that?

I was just informed this afternoon that my son, who is six, and a boy of the same age were found touching and kissing each others privates.  I questioned my son and he says it was his idea and I am in total shock.  I told him this was not the right behavior and that privates are private.  My biggest concern is where he got this idea.  He says he is just curious and that it popped into his head.  I have caught him with the same boy just looking at each others.  He is an only child do you think this maybe why he is so curious?  He says he has never seen this type of behavior before.  Please help!!!

Had your 6 year old hurt his privates before he asked for them to be kissed? When he hurried to pull his pants up, he obviously new he was in the wrong. Then he lied and tried to blame it on his sister. This may have been an innocent activity but you will not know until you ask your son a few questions. To my understanding oral sex is not in the normal range or curiosity unless it has been witnessed. I do not believe in jumping to conclusions but I do believe that too many people just ignore issues such as this. Shep101, you are doing a great job by investigating this incident and keeping your children safe.

a 15 year-old is mentally matured compare to a 6 year-old! it's not curiosity anymore, it's absolutely a sex matter! you need  only to have a right informations for your grown-up!
