Son's Behavior

Hi All,

My Elder son is 8 years old, earlier he was very Obedient. But from last 2yrs I feel that he doesn't take interest in studies, he listens to me very well for all the things except the studies. He is very good in studies since he started his school. Earlier I was strict with him however now I am not. I always try to pamper him, encourage him ,he feels happy but if i tell him to study, he sits, opens book however doesn't study. Now he is in third standard, he knows every thing orally however if i tell him to write he starts giving excusses. His school principal also told so many times that he is not good in writing. His hand writing is very bad and very slow while writing.Please suggest what to do? My husband is very busy, he doesn't get time for all these things. My younger son is 6 months old.

Although your son might've been doing well earlier on in his schooling, i think now it sounds like a case of him struggling rather than not wanting to do the work (or maybe even a mixture of both?). I'd say he's giving you excuses as he's finding what his doing difficult, which is a normal reaction when you find something difficult to do. Take the advice of his teacher or principal and continue to work on his writing skills. When his writing improves, im sure the speed of his writing will imrpove also. :)
