Speech

I have a two year old son who is very talkative and out going.  Many of the words he uses are common English, but he also has his very own "language" so to say.  These "words" are what I call an imitation of other words he already knows.  My husband is very worried and thinks our son should stop it.  Is it normal for a two year old to invent his own language/words? What can we do?

If your son is developing well in general there is no need to woory about this. Two-year-olds are learning language and need support in their efforts to do so. Try not to make him self-conscious about this processby insisting that he stop what he is doing. This is an enjoyable phase of a child's development. Take pride in his attempts to master this important developmental achievement.
