Strange Sounds

My eight year old son has no control over the sounds he makes like 20 times in a minute and throughout the day. This has been going on for over one year. The noise sounds as a brief "hum" or "huh"; and could be irritating. My son states that he does this at school and throughout the day and has no control in making it stop. His teacher called to draw our attention for a solution. What can we do to help him.

It does sound like Tourette's.  As MarkLakewood3367 suggests, get to the doctor and get him evaluated.
