Temper Tantrums

My 7 yr. old stepdaughter throws temper tantrums at least 3-4 times a day. She lost her mother in June 2008 and tantrums have gotten worse. She back talk, kicks at the floor and walls for at least 30 minutes at a time. She has been through therapy but didnt see any results. In time out she screams to the top of her lungs until she is horse. She constantly craves to be center of attention at all times. This is behavior that she expressed before her mother passed away from cancer. If she doesnt get her way she takes it out on her younger brother also. She has tried to hit me and her father in her tantrums.

What kind of time out do you give her, what happens prior to the episodes of kicking and yelling sounds like something is upsetting her, how is she at school does she do the same there, what does her Teacher think. Get her Dad involved morewith games and outside activities and one to one attention for her, ,as there is a younger sibling she could be feeling left out, focus on her positive side and praise her when you find her doing something right.
