Ten year old's behavioral changes

My ten year old son has a dramatic change in his behavior about this time every year.  His eyes seem to begin bothering him as he constantly moves them around.  He also seems to have difficulty controlling his anger.  He says unkind things at home and at school--he is a totally different person.  This change usually lasts for several months.  It causes problems both at home and at school.  Could his change in behavior have a medical reason?

Thank you.

Dear Ms. Herndon,

In light of the seasonal pattern to the behavior, and in light of the fact that your son's eyes are implicated in the pattern, it is quite likely that he is displaying an allergic reaction. If you consult an allergist in your area, he/she will be familiar with the local allergens and probably be able to determine what is affecting your son.

My son had similar behavior changes as you described. We had him tested for allergies, both seasonal (outdoor related), food and everything else in between. It took a while to figure out what he was allergic to. He also showed behavior changes from certain food allergies, very much like to described. Have you considered allergies to be the cause? I've read many books in this area and it seems that children react very differently than adults. It's very common for children to have behavior changes related to allergies.
