I had posted a topic about ADHD and RitalinRitalin Ritalin la Ritalin-sr last week. My son just started taking the meds last Thursday... It was very difficult for me, but after almost 6 yrs trying to figure out what was wrong with him and doing everything possible to make sure it was just a phase that he would grow out of... He hasn’t now that he's almost 8 yrs old... He is taking 5 mg of RitalinRitalin Ritalin la Ritalin-sr every morning and I can finally say for now he is doing great.... His teacher gave him an award for being good Thurs and Fri and even the principle praise him for his good behavior. He came home Friday really excited. He as not showed any side affects yet.. He seems normalNormal saline flush just calmer (not a zombie) I explained the meds to him the simplest way a 7 yr old can understand without scaring him… I told him to make sure and tell me whenever he doesn’t feel himself.. and he tells me he feels “great” Sometimes it works for some and sometimes it doesn’t. You as a parent are the only one that can choose what’s best for your child… I trully wish every single parent on here luck with any issues you might have... just remember sometimes we have to be a littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys open minded and realize that sometimes our children to have problems that we can't controlControl Control rx... At this moment this works for me and not because I wanted to have an easier stress free life, but because I want my child to have a normalNormal saline flush childhood with friends that like being around him and do good in school.
I agree with you about he meds. My daughter is on Concerta, and I am actually looking at switching because it curbs her appetite terribly and she barely eats. But it took me over a year to decide to put either of my children on meds for their ADHD. I didnt want them on it and niether did my ex husband. But I agree completely. There are certain things we cannot control and sometimes we have to take actions we dont necessarily agree with or want to. But my daughter went from being a year and a half behind in reading to being at grade level in just a couple months once she started her meds. Sometimes it can be a blessing so our children do have friends, and can get through their childhood like the other children that dont need it. Without struggle, and without complications. Good luck to all the other parents on here that have the same issues we do.
Payari - My son started Concerta today, The Dr is trying to figure out which medication is best for him. What are your feelings regarding that medication? besides her lossing her appetite? I heard something about tics.. that's scary
