WHERE TO BUY RYTALIN WITH A DISCOUNT OR LESS PRICE

by vanessa robles rivera, Mar 28, 2000 12:00AM
HELLO. IM FROM PUERTO RICO AND I HAVE 2 CHILDREN WITH ADHD ALMOST WITH ALL SYMPTOMS, AND BOTH ARE MEDICATED WITH RYTALIN.  EVERY MONTH I NEED TO GO TO THE PSY. D. TO OBTAIN THE PRESCRIPTION AND BUY THE RYTALIN. BUT THE HEALTH INSURANCE THAT I HAVE DO NOT COVER THIS DRUG BECAUSE THEY SAID THAT THE PSYCOTHERAPEUTIC DRUG ARE NOT COVER. EVERY MONTH I NEED TO BUY THE RYTALIN BUT IS TOO EXPENSIVE FOR ME AND I WANT TO KNOW IF THERE EXIST SOME WAY TO OBTAIN A DISCOUNT OR AT LESS A MORE REDUCED PRICE.  BECAUSE I CANNOT STOP TO GIVE THE MEDICATION TO THEM BECAUSE HIS BEHAVIOR AND THE DIRECTOR OF THE SCHOOL DO NOT ALLOWE MY KIDS IN THE SCHOOL WITHOUT MEDICATION.  HAVE YOY EVER HEARD OR KNOW SOME PLACE THAT I MIGHT GET INFORMATION ON THIS?
THANKS SO MUCH IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP.

Dear Ms. Rivera,

I have two suggestions for you. First, try the generic drug, called methylphenidate. It is less expensive than the brand name drug (Ritalin). Just ask the prescriber to indicate this on the prescription. Now, some children do not respond to the generic drug as well as they respond to the brand name drug, but most children have a similar response to both.

Second, some drug com, panies have arrangements by which people with limited income can obtain the drug at a reduced cost. Ask your prescriber about this, and he can discuss it with the representative from the drug company.
