What Does She Have?

My 10 year old niece barely wears socks with her shoes. More like never. Her feet have started to itch occasionally and they STINK. Her shoes reak. She has some very red, tender looking spots on her feet. She says she feels the itch mainly when she just thinks about it, or when they get wet, or right after she gets out of the shower and they dry off some. Her feet are also very dry and rough.

I've attached a picture of the "rash" on the side of her foot.

just another thought the position of the redness I see on the Pic, could be where the shoes have stitches ?

yes that could be the drug stores have a myriad of stuff for that, if she doesnt wear socks she should, as that could also be the problem that if the material the shoes are made of is firm, they could be rubbing her feet .

Yeah her shoes are the right size, and she hardly wears socks, and from what I've been researching, she looks like she might have a mild case of athlete's foot.

She could also be allergic to the material the socks are made of I would definatly have her feet looked at ,it could certainly become infected ,are the shoes the correct size?.

It could be abrasions from the shoes, which have gotten infected.  Why not take her to the doctor and have him talk to her about how to properly take care of her feet?  She might listen to a medical person more than to a family member.
